What an amazing project!
How on earth did I miss magicmirror.builders? In my case, I did not create an actual mirror, I just hooked a RPi to the back of my TV. HDMI1 is my nice info screen now, showing upcoming holidays, XKCD, local weather, crypto prices, news headlines and "now playing" on Spotify. // @vrypan→
